Fly to Hawaii in November

Today, the 'Moku O Keawe' Hula Festival, one of Hawaii Big Island's big events to keep Hawaiian traditions like hula dance and slackkey guitar alive on the islands, has started at Waikoloa Beach Resort. We were happy to hear that Big Island vacation rental owners shared this information with their guests. As the hula festival lasts till November the 9th, we expect many Big Island visitors and residents to visit one of the festival events and feel the aloha spirit first hand.

Fly to Hawaii in NovemberIf you are not on the Hawaiian Islands yet, but plan a last minute visit to Hawaii for November, remember Thanksgiving is a very busy week on all the islands and our highest season in Hawaii starts Christmas week on 12/20, including New Year's 2008 and ends January 3rd 2009. January and February are high season months generally.

Hotels and private vacation homes in Hawaii are quite booked for Christmas 2008. So, if you are looking for a bargain, then it's November to catch offers for special room rates (exception of Thanksgiving!) and believe it or not, Hawaii hotels and vacation rentals are normally slow at the beginning of December till 12/19. After that, things turn a little crazy. I personally love the peaceful time before Christmas. Hawaii visitors may enjoy still empty beaches and restaurants and the already set up Christmas decorations.

Well, if we got you hooked to check Hawaii flights and hotels for November 2008, our friends, Jeff and Rob, from Beat of Hawaii might have the flight information available you are looking for. They list flight specials from LAX to Honolulu for $242 RT, Denver to Honolulu for $111 one way, Chicago to Maui for $412 RT, Sacramento to Honolulu for $350 RT and more. Jeff wrote in his blog post from November 1st:

"This past week has been the very best we’ve seen in about a year for mainland to Hawaii airfares. In fact, when you consider inflation-adjusted price, some are the lowest ever offered historically.

To and from Los Angeles, the price has dropped an additional $20, since we posted it earlier in the week. American is now joined by Delta and Northwest, who are all battling in this heavily traveled and prized market. This is the best price imaginable. You can also choose to fly Hawaiian Air for just $25 more.

Check out the other fabulous Hawaii airfare offers as well. When I looked this morning, many are still available, in some cases with more availability and additional carriers joining, than earlier. I’ve updated each offer with today’s changes."

If you are interested in reading all the special flight details, keep reading Jeff's post LAX to Honolulu $233 RT all-inclusive You will find Hawaii flight specials by American Airlines, Delta and United, and a special Hotel - Flight vacation code by Orbitz. It doesn't hurt to check it out, when you are determined to fly to Hawaii in November.

Last but not least, we mentionend before that Hawaiian island hopping had become quite expensive with Hawaiian Airline's high prices for flying between the islands. Here is the good news. I just checked Hawaiian for Interisland flights and noticed their brand-new interisland special for Honolulu - Kona, Honolulu - Kahului, Honolulu - Lihue, Honolulu - Hilo is $61 starting 11/19/08. Looks like Mokulele's lower Interisland rates made its competitor to go lower as well.

Great news for Hawaii visitors who love island hopping on their Hawaii vacation. So fly to Hawaii in November and let's hop, island hop, again! Aloha, Pua Hawaii Vacations

Is November a good time to go to Kona Hawaii?

Aloha Hawaii lovers,
For all those of you who are planning a Hawaii visit for the fall season 2008, here is my answer to Yahoo Hawaii travel question: Is November a good time to go to Kona Hawaii? Hey, it got chosen as best answer and I got 10 points for it. What a deal!

I guess 'When is the best weather for visiting Hawaii?' is one of the most asked question. Well, compared to the rainy cold mainland weather in winter, starting with late November, any time is good escaping to Hawaii. Of course, snow birds prefer the winter months for their Hawaii visit. Why visit Hawaii in summer when it's nice and warm weather even in Canada or Alaska?

Snow-covered Mauna Kea Summit, View from Mauna Kea Beach Hotel Golf Course
What can you expect for visiting Kona Hawaii in November? Kona and Kohala Coast are located on the west coast of the Big Island and are blessed with sunny, dry, warm weather all year round. Kona can be extremely hot during summer month. November weather will be very pleasant, provided no winter storm is passing through. It can happen though. All Hawaiian Islands are more prone to those during the winter months December - February.

Hey, guys believe it or not, Hawaii needs to get some rain from time to time, even though Hawaii vacation rental hosts feel sorry for those unlucky visitors who get hit by the rare rain.

Mauna Kea Beach, Kohala Coast, Big Island
I also tell Big Island visitors how else can they experience those most impressive pictures of Mauna Kea (White Mountain) and Mauna Loa (Flat Mountain) volcanoes covered in snow and sparkling in the tropical sun??!!! So, have fun in Kona in November and also go north to the Kohala Coast too...great white sand beaches, easy access to Mauna Kea summit with stargazing and visit spectacular Waipio and Pololu Valley.

Well, one amendment needs to be made: If you are on a budget for your Hawaii vacation, best stay away from Thanksgiving week 11/24 - 11/30/08. No airline, car rental company, Hawaii hotel or vacation rental host will make you special offer then. Over the years, Hawaii hotels, Kona and Kohala Coast vacation rentals are booked 100% during Thanksgiving. If you want to book a hotel or Kona vacation rental for Thanksgiving 2008, you'd better book your vacation NOW.

Please, share your Hawaii vacation experience with our Best Hawaii vacation blog visitors. If you ever spend a vacation in November or for Thanksgiving in Hawaii, we would love to hear from you. Mahalo and aloha, Pua Hawaii Vacations

3 Best Hawaii Vacation Tips for Thanksgiving in Hawaii

With Mainland temperatures dropping a degree or two daily and the fall weather changing from sunny, golden fall to rainy, gray November weather, sunny, warm Hawaii becomes once again the number one travel destination of places to visit in winter for Mainland residents.

As we told you in our recent post about the Best weather for Hawaii vacation, Hawaii weather proves to be nice and warm also during the winter months. Who wouldn't want to visit the Hawaiian Islands for Thanksgiving week or Christmas Holidays?! Here are our Hawaii vacation tips tourists should know when planning to visit Hawaii for a Thanksgiving or Christmas vacation.

It's a matter of fact that the Hawaii holiday crowd at the big ocean front resorts consists mainly of the well-to-do families, who can afford to meet in Hawaii for their annual family reunion. Hawaii tourism at 5-star hotels relies on these return visitors. Holiday season is the time when the hotels on the Kohala Coast or other prestigious Hawaii Resorts like the Grand Wailea on Maui are booked at 100% occupancy. Well, that said about the Hawaii VIP crwod for the holidays, let's share our tips with the average Hawaii visitor, who has his chances too for a Hawaiian holiday vacation:

1. Expect higher rates for Hawaii vacation rentals during the holidays

Vacation rentals are very high in command for the Hawaii Holiday Season. As rental owners know that, expecthigher rates for the holidays. As vacation rental owners, it has always amazed us how many people asked for Special holiday rates plus waited much too long with making their accommodation reservation. Good news for these guys: there are still a few nice vacation rental places which have availability for Thanksgiving or Christmas at this moment but you don't have the big choices anymore. Next time, make your Thanksgiving or Christmas reservation in summer. Be aware of the 5-night minimum stay of most vacation rentals.

2. Rent your car for your Holiday Vacation as early as possible

Unfortunately, when planning their Hawaii holiday vacation, too many tourists don't take into consideration that Hawaii consists of various islands which have a limited resourced of cars. It happens each year that car rentals on an island get 'maxed' out, meaning car rental companies can ask 'astronomical' rates per day. Guess what, when you have paid for your flight reservation to Hawaii and for your stay, you will be extremely happy to rent a car for $80/day! Rule number two: The earlier you make your car rental reservation, the better your chances for a decent deal.

3. Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner in Hawaii

Since you know by now that spending Thanksgiving or Christmas in Hawaii is really something special and asks for special financial means to do so, let's talk 'Thanksgiving Turkey in Hawaii'. It goes without saying that all the fancy Hawaii Beach Resorts put on their own Thanksgiving Celebration Dinner. As this mostly includes Hawaiian entertainment with hula dancers and Hawaiian music. this turkey definitely doesn not come cheap and might exceed your budget by far.

So why not take advantage of the great Turkey Dinner offers by Hawaiian local markets: turkey for 6 - 8 people, with gravy, cranberry sauce and stuffing and have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner a la Hawaiian style at the privacy of your Hawaii vacation rental home. Sit outside on your lanai and enjoy your Thanksgiving turkey with your family accompanied by warm, mild Hawaiian air and gentle Hawaiian music from your CD player! This is Thanksgiving in Hawaii! Call your friends on the Mainland and tell them 'I wish you were here!'.

Happy Thanksgiving in HawaiiPlease, share your Hawaii Thanksgiving recommendations with our Best Hawaii Vacation blog visitors. Mahalo for your comments. Aloha, Pua Hawaii Vacations
