More Paper Inspiration

Tomorrow we find out what we having and then it will be time to start thinking about the nursery. Anthropologie already inspired me with a rocker (which unless my fairy godmother shows up will not be ours) and now their wallpaper has my wheels spinning as well...This would be so cute in the back of a bookcase or cabinet...
Most of these are too bold for a whole room but they sure could be cute used in some way...
Of course most of these lean feminine, if we have a boy I will have to switch up the search. Either way I am pretty sure I will use wallpaper.

Let's Take A Vote...Girl's Wallpaper

Oh the joys compromise...I get asked a lot if I have free rein when it comes to decorating my own house and the answer is no. I do ask for Patrick's input/opinion a lot and trust me, he has one. Now there are definitely times when those go in one ear and out the other. When I know he will love something in the end and just doesn't have the vision for it at the moment I might just go ahead and do it anyway...ahem. Which brings us to the nursery. I found this wallpaper when looking for a client right before we found out we were pregnant (we don't know yet what we are having)...
I LOVED it and filed it away to use in the future...I just didn't know where because it is on the funky side and needs a special home. Then when we found out we were having a baby it popped right into my mind (and is probably the reason I feel like we are having a girl lately)...
HOWEVER, when I showed it to Patrick it went a little something like this:

Me: What do you think about this wallpaper?
P: Hate it, why?
Me: Because....if we have a girl I am thinking about using it in the nursery
P: Ughhhhh, No.
Me: WHYYYYYYYYYYY??????????
P:No.
Me: I need a better reason...
P: I don't like floral wallpapers.
Me: But it isn't really a true floral in the traditional sense...

This is when we both eye each other and silently call a truce. He is thinking that I have access to thousands of wallpapers and will continue the search and is glad not to have to continue the debate of what is a "floral" wallpaper. I am thinking that I will file this away for now and if we find out it is a girl that I will pull it back out and revisit.
In the end though unless he has a change of heart I won't use this, I can tell he really is not a fan and I want him to love our nursery too.
I do understand this is not a universally likable wallpaper. Which makes me wonder what you all think? Love it or not so much? Don't worry about hurting my feelings, even though I love it I can see both sides.

PS- We find out what we having next week!

Fabulous "wooden" feature wallpaper from Bodie and Fou

This "Scrapwood" wallpaper, which comes in six variations (see below, too) is odd and beautiful in equal measure, I think.

It's designed by Piet Hien Eek and for sale at hip online store, Bodie and Fou. It's pricey – £145 a roll – but the rolls are large (each is enough to cover 4 square metres) and you probably wouldn't want to do a whole room in it. The more I look at it, the more I love it. What do you make of it?

Pretty colour combinations revisited

I'm re-posting this, as it managed to get a little lost yesterday in all the excitement, and it also gives me the chance to add a pic from the latest issue of Home Beautiful magazine. This laundry/powder room is so bright and beautiful, with such happy colourss. And even though it's really out of character colour-wise for me, I love it! Maybe it's all the gloomy, rainy weather we're having that's making me crave sunshine, and if you can't have the real thing, just add it in the form of wallpaper and some pretty yellow penny round tiles.

Belle Of The Ball

I was looking through Farrow & Ball's new wallpaper, The Baroque Collection, and it dawned on me....I want a bright foyer with a wallpaper like this...
And an autumn weekend getaway that feels like this....
And I don't care what anyone says, I think I need some metallic wallpaper somewhere in my house...
Speaking of Farrow & Ball, this book has been on my wish list for a while...
and I am adding this one now as well (Santa are you listening?)...

Cabinet of curiosities

One of the advantages of living on acreage is having the space for a shed. A big shed. Big enough to hoard store all manner of vintage treasures, collected over years of thrift shop and garage sale stalking. Over the weekend, I managed to re-visit some of the pieces I have stashed away, and found these cabinets.

The blue hutch has the original, crazed painted finish, which is just gorgeous, so I'm looking for a new finish for the interior. I'm leaning towards painting, to complement the simple, rustic appearance:

...maybe something simple like this:

The second piece has been varnished a truly awful, streaky brown, which will soon be covered in a fresh coat of paint. So with that in mind, I'm thinking I might zhush this one up with a wallpapered interior:

...but I might just throw caution to the wind, and go for something like this gorgeous green chinoiserie paper, used here by Ruthie Sommers:

...or this vibrant yellow de gournay number...

So, what do you think? Do you have a preference for brightly coloured interiors, soft, subdued, chalky pastels - or maybe a dramatic black and white stripe? I'd love to know what you'd choose!

It's school holidays here in Queensland (yay!) but instead of leisurely sleep-ins, I'll be spending much of the first week watching my son compete in a state football carnival, so I may be a little scarce over the next few days. Fingers crossed the weather stays nice and dry!

Have a great week everyone,

Feeling Funky Clarke?

I was introduced to Clarke & Clarke in Atlanta last week and I love all the funky elements...
Flocked wallpaper? I must admit I love it, especially in a fun design....
Their fabric reminds me of Romo, a long time love of mine.
Love those roman shades...
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
